Being Authentic

So tomorrow is the long awaited 125th Anniversary celebration for The Salvation Army in Brunswick. It's going to be an unusual day. Our special guests are Commissioners Jim and Carolyn Knaggs, we'll have a large brass band to provide the music and we've put out extra seats to allow for visitors. In some ways, we might look more like The Salvation Army of 70 years ago - it's hard not to feel a little strange.

How do we celebrate the past without negating the present? Though its only one day, I'm concerned that some of our usual crowd might feel out of place tomorrow. At the same time, Brunswick has a great history and is worthy of celebration. For me, the challenge will be about finding the right balance. Will let you know how it goes...
