Spent most of today visiting programs of The Salvation Army's Westcare network. Westcare look after vulnerable children and young people in Melbourne's western suburbs with a wide range of programs and a great staff team.
Two innovative programs, Creating Dreams and Creating Memories, struck me today as getting to the heart of our work. All of us need a reason to dream, even moreso those who have experienced great difficulties (sometimes in an all too short lifespan). The Salvation Army must be a facilitator of hope in people's lives. If we manage to do that, then we might also have generated some memories worth looking back upon.
