Mephi Who? I was looking through the scriptures this afternoon with one of the people from our community program when we came upon the story of Mephibosheth, a grandson of King Saul whose position in the royal court became very precarious once David had assumed the throne. In the passage from second Samuel that we read today, Mephibosheth is in conversation with David about how his disability (we are told that he is lame) prevented him going out to war with the King and his other men. Whilst they were gone, Mephibosheth didn't wash his clothes, trim his beard or take care of his feet - this is a familiar image in our corps! He threw himself at the mercy of the King and was treated with unexpected grace. What a great parable for us all!
