Have missed out on blogging for the last couple of days because I've been in Adelaide for a Beyond Connections forum. It was a great time for a diverse group of people joining together from across our Territory to discuss some of the pressing issues for The Salvation Army at the moment. Our Territorial Commander has been explicit in defining 'Salvos' in an intentionally inclusive manner so that those without uniforms who see themselves as part of the mission of The Salvation Army are not excluded and this forum was no exception.
I felt privileged to be a part of this select group and to have my opinions taken into account for consideration by our leadership. Furthermore, I was deeply impressed that the forum was never tarnished by any of the parochialism that often occurs where people are just interested in protecting their own patch of the world. But mostly I was pleased that the process even existed because it demonstrates genuine interest in the views of those at the grassroots with regards to the future of our movement.
